Although there are big international supermarkets in the city, you will notice as you over fly Lilongwe villages surround it. Walks around Lilongwe are very peaceful and the people are very welcoming and friendly. The capital is divided into two areas: Old Town and New Town. The old town houses residential areas, banks, shops and the Lilongwe Market. New Town as the name suggests, you will find diplomatic missions, up market residents, NGO offices and governmental offices. The airport is 30 km from the Centre.
