Itinerary

Day 1

Meet and greet in Lilongwe and transfer to Kumbali Lodge and overnight.  Depending on time of arrival in Lilongwe, city tour and overnight at Hotel bed and breakfast.

In comparison to many other parts of Africa Malawi and is still much undeveloped and very African. Although there are big international supermarkets in the city, you will notice as you over fly Lilongwe villages surround it. Walks around Lilongwe are very peaceful and the people are very welcoming and friendly. The capital is divided into two areas: Old Town and New Town. The old town houses residential areas, banks, shops and the Lilongwe Market. New Town as the name suggests, you will find diplomatic missions, up market residents, NGO offices and governmental offices. The airport is 30 km from the Centre. Dinner optionally at the Hotel or in other restaurants in Town, overnight at Hotel bed and breakfast

Day 2

Morning visit for the Kumbali Village and thereafter  depart for Southern Malawi and to Zomba and overnight at Zomba Kuchae Inn,  full board.

Day 3

Some of the most interesting places to visit while you are here are the botanical gardens and the central market. Zomba was the capital city until 1975 when Lilongwe was declared the new capital. The Zomba market is regarded as the most colorful in Malawi. There are several hiking trails, Williams falls, Mandala falls. Emperor’s viewpoint and the Queen view point

Day 4

After breakfast depart for  Satemmwa Tea  Estate and overnight at Huntington, full board.

Huntingdon House and Chawani Bungalow have been sensitively renovated proudly compliment Malawi’s growing portfolio of international calibre lodges while retaining the historical character and charm of these period properties. Guests are invited to step back in time and share some of wonderful memories of this family home, explore the estate, discover the multitude of teas produced and hear the fascinating history of Satemwa Estate.​

Day 5

Liwonde National Park is 5 hours drive. Arrival will be in time for lunch. Late afternoon game drive and overnight at Mvuu Camp, full  board.

Day 6

Morning walking safari followed by an afternoon boat safari

Day 7

Morning and evening game drive and overnight at Mvuu Camp. Full board.

Liwonde National Park is Malawi’s’ finest Park. Hippos bask in slow moving pools and crocodiles lurk on mudflats. The trees crowd the river, pressing in on it in lush, exotic green dampness. The birdlife distinguishes Liwonde as a nature experience. With a resident and migratory population of well over 300 species, many rare among them, Liwonde is a paradise for those passionate about life on the wing. Here is the dream of Africa that has lured explorers along this very river into the heart of Africa. The Shire River does not dry up like so many other African rivers. Thousands of hippos and crocodiles live in these abundant waters. Liwonde Nat. Park also boasts of the largest concentration of hippo in Africa. Antelope, waterbuck, impala and bushbuck grazing on the floodplain as are waterbuck, sable, impala whilst herds of elephant drink, and bath in the river. The highlight of a visit to Liwonde is a river cruise. An astonishing number of bird species inhabit the park, among which are the brilliant Lillian’s Love birds, the Brown Breasted Barbet, Pel’s Fishing Owl and Palmnut Vulture.

Day 8

Eraly morning transfer to Mangochi  and to Makokola Resort,full board.

Day 9 & 10

Days at leisure and overnights at Makokola Resort, full board.

Mumbo Island Camp is situated on a pristine and otherwise-deserted island in Lake Malawi, itself lying within an exclusive concession area and part of the Lake Malawi National Park. This park – a World Heritage Site – was the first freshwater marine reserve in the world and is home to more than 500 species of fish, of which over are endemic.

Day 11

Back to Blantyre to your flight back home.
